As many of you know from the announcements made at last weekend's Masses, St. Mary's and St. Michael's Legacy of Faith capital campaign has been a tremendous success. As of Friday, May 3rd, 625 benefactors had pledged $4,354,000 in support of our school and the two parishes. This level of support represents 124% of the original $3.5 million goal. Thanks be to God! What a beautiful testament of faith and hope in our future!
What does this mean for St. Croix Catholic School?
Approximately one-half of the campaign's proceeds are directed to the school, with the first $300,000 used to establish a new SCCS Strategic Fund. This Strategic Fund is intended to provide investments above and beyond what's possible in the annual operating budget and is informed by the school's strategic plan.
The balance of the school's portion of the campaign (nearly $2 million) will greatly strengthen the St. Croix Catholic School Endowment Fund. Presently, the Endowment Fund has a total investment balance of $1.3 million. As nearly $2 million in campaign gifts come in over the next three redemption years, coupled with reinvestment of investment earnings, the Fund's contribution to the school's annual operating budget should significantly increase over the next few years-and simultaneously reduce our reliance on parish subsidies, tuition, and short-term fundraisers.
