Life at SCCS is noticeably different. From the moment you walk into the front door, it's apparent that Christ is the reason for St. Croix Catholic School. From the visual reflections of the mission statement to statues of saints and angels reminding us of our call to holiness, St. Croix Catholic is deeply committed to intentional faith formation for each child and each family. It is our hope that all will personally encounter Christ during this educational journey.
Each school day starts and ends with prayer. We gather as a full faith family every Wednesday for All-School Mass and the First Friday of every month for Adoration. Feast Day celebrations, Lenten Stations of the Cross, Advent Concerts, and an annual All-School Faith Rally keep faith front and center throughout the liturgical year. Religion is a core subject, preschool - Grade 8, and is reinforced with intentional formation programs, including Virtues in Practice, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and Created for Greatness. Our priests, deeply committed to the school children's formation, visit classrooms on a regular basis and dive deep into the students' theological questions. Middle School students' formation is stretched even further with vocation presentations and reflections and spiritual retreats.
Certain years are of special sacramental preparation: First Reconciliation and First Communion in Grade 2 and Confirmation in Grade 8. In Grades 2 and 5, students enjoy partaking in an archdiocesan-wide rosary pilgrimage to the Cathedral of St. Paul. Every other year, students in grades 4-8 join hundreds of other Catholic school students in the Mass of the Holy Spirit, sponsored by Catholic Schools Center of Excellence.
