The use of Chromebooks and Google Apps for Education is widely being deployed by schools across the U.S. because of the safe Internet environment and collaborative experiences they can provide in the classroom.

This spring, thanks to a grant by the Schulze Family Foundation, St. Croix Catholic Middle School students will be a part of a pilot with these devices, testing and evaluating the use of virtues-based leadership lesson plans and materials. Through this virtues program, we will challenge our students to master their environment rather than allowing their environment to master them. One key area will be the students’ interaction with technology, which holds so much potential for students to understand the world, engage in our culture, and transform it for the better. In fact, technology will be essential to the success of this leadership program. Students will be required to produce, collaborate, organize, and present work, integrated among various subject areas.

With the experience gained in the pilot, it is our hope that in the 2015 - 2016 school year, each middle school student will have a Chromebook to use. Please join us for an introduction to the Chromebook program and the opportunity to ask many questions!!
