8th Grade Makes Memories at Wolf Ridge

It has been a tradition for many years for St. Croix Catholic School's 8th grade to spend a week as a class at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, MN. This 2,000 acre outdoor classroom is an extraordinary experience that stretches students' physical, mental, social, and spiritual boundaries. It's an opportunity to unplug and connect with the natural world and one another. Students (and their adult chaperones!) traverse a ropes course 30 feet in the air, learn basics of XC skiing, snowshoeing, rock climbing, winter survival, bird watching, animal identification, and geocaching. Father Izen joined the group for XC skiing and to celebrate Mass. Students also enjoyed interesting evening presentations, including a study of constellations and planets in a real time planetarium. We are grateful to Ms. Morel and all the adult chaperones who made this life-changing trip possible. Students anticipate this trip to Wolf Ridge throughout their entire journey at St. Croix Catholic School and graduates often comment on ELC as a highlight of their SCCS chapter.
