Jr. Chess & Game Club
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” –Albert Einstein
For 2nd - 5th graders who love games! The Club is 2 clubs in 1. Jr. Chess Club (for those interested mostly in chess) and Game Club (for those interested in other games) will meet concurrently on Thursdays starting September 7th and continuing Thursdays after school through (approx) December 7th.
Jr. Chess & Game Club is for boys and girls who want an introduction to chess and other classic and modern games. Many different age-appropriate table, card, strategy, and fun games will be explored like Mouse Trap, Clue, UNO, and Star Wars Battle of the Galaxy. Games of all types especially for younger students or those with slightly shorter attention spans will be played. Younger students wanting to learn and play chess and advance to Chess Club will be given opportunity. Students may toggle back and forth between chess and other games. All students will get the opportunity to design & invent their own game. Overall goals include exposure to new games, cultivating imagination and creativity, and developing game skills including critical thinking, being a good sport, and having fun.
