SCCS Students Achieve Marathon Goal

SCCS students met and exceeded their goal to raise $75,000 for the school while pledging to do acts of service for their community. As of October 11th, the total raised was $78,317.31. This includes pledges collected by the students in exchange for their service as well as a gift from the Knights of Columbus of the proceeds from their September Benefit Breakfast and gifts from parishioners of the Churches of St. Mary and St. Michael.

Students have also been recording their acts of service to others throughout the month. Their goal is to each complete 26 acts of service (as in a Marathon of service). The Marathon will culminate with a week of service activities October 22 through 26. Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 students will be singing for residents at Linden Nursing Home, students in grades 3 and 4 will be cleaning up St. Michael's cemetery in Bayport, and students in grades 5 through 8 will be participating in a Community Rake-A-Thon by preparing the yards of area senior citizens for winter.

We congratulate Mrs. Gag's 2nd grade class for being the class that collected the highest average pers student throughout the 4 week Marathon. Enjoy your candy filled trophy!
