Concert Band
Concert Band instruction is provided by Mrs. Erika Hammerschmidt to students in Grades 4-8. Mrs. Hammerschmidt provides instruction at SCCS during the school day. Students rehearse in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced band ensembles, and receive instruction in small group lessons. Student musicians perform two concerts a year at St. Croix Catholic School.

Beginner String Orchestra
This program is offered to students in Grades 3-5 who have completed at least one full year of lessons. The ensemble meets 2x/week. Beginner String Orchestra students learn the fundamentals of participating in a String Orchestra and prepare music for two concerts held at St. Croix Catholic School during the school year.

Advanced String Orchestra
This program is offered to students who have completed at least two full years of lessons and a previous ensemble experience. Full ensemble meets 2x/week. Advanced String students continue to learn rehearsal etiquette as well as prepare a more demanding set of string orchestra literature for performances. Students perform two concerts at St. Croix Catholic School during the school year.

Chamber Ensemble
This is an audition-based ensemble, offered at no additional charge to advanced string and wind musicians. Chamber Ensemble musicians rehearse twice a week and perform at all SCCS concerts. Additionally, these advanced musicians participate in an Exchange Concert with a Duluth middle school, traveling to Duluth every other year. While in Duluth, students enjoy observing the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra and the sites of the North Shore.
